Hi, hope you all are doing well. Today, I would like to share with you some tips which will help you to remain positive in life.  In the journey of our lives, it is impossible to avoid stress and anxiety. Modern life is full of complexities and our support system is decreasing day by day. More and more people are living on their own, whether by choice or  compulsion. Under the circumstances, we have to develop self-reliance in caring for our mental health and well being. While it is not possible to control our external circumstances, how we choose to live our lives and respond to them is in our hands. Cultivating a positive attitude goes a long way in helping us to take good decisions and reduce stress in our lives.

  • To have an optimistic outlook in life. In other words, to be able to see the “glass half full”.
  • It also means to have the ability to deal effectively with everyday challenges & stressful situations.
  • A positive thinking person sees the bright side of things in any situation.
  • A positive person can handle an unpleasant situation in a productive way.

Why Should we practice Positive Thinking?

According to research, there are numerous health benefits of practicing positive thinking on our health.

Some of the health benefits include:-

  • Better physical & psychological well-being.
  • Reduced risk of cardio-vascular  diseases.
  • Lower states of depression.
  • Increased Life span.
  • Better coping skills during times of stress.

Some of the practices that I have identified are:-

  1.  Awareness of Negative Thoughts

We have a tendency to engage in negative thoughts and behaviors when we are facing a challenge in life. Being aware of depressing thoughts that lower our self-esteem, make us lose hope in ourselves and life , can help in tackling the problem at grass root level.

 

 

2. Positive Environment

Cultivating a positive attitude or thinking is a habit that should be practiced daily, at all times whether or not we are facing an adversity.

  • Keep company of positive people

As far as possible avoid people who are negative and toxic. They will drain your energy and leave you with a pessimistic look on life.

  • Carefully Choose what you read

Be aware of the kinds of books or articles you read, the movies you watch and the songs you listen to. Your interaction with the media should be uplifting and beneficial. Avoid news and articles that are depressing.

  • Cultivate an Uplifting Hobby

Much emphasis has been laid upon the benefits of gardening and soothing & healing music to rejuvenate the soul. Develop a hobby that appeals to you and helps you refresh yourself. 

3. The Power Of Solitude

It is important for everyone to be with oneself and to be connected to one’s inner self. For different people, it can have different meanings. For some , listening to their favorite  music helps them to connect with themselves, while for others, meditation works. Find out what best works for you and practice it.

4. Develop Healthier Habits

Being disciplined and living a healthy lifestyle is important. Be regulated in eating, sleeping & exercising. Make sure you practice everything in moderation.

The long-term benefits of practicing positive living cannot be under-estimated.What I have shared with you is not by any means a comprehensive list. There may be much more you can do to improve your own way of thinking. The key  however lies in the being aware of any negative thoughts in your mind that plays itself when you are facing a difficult situation. The trick is to learn , how to always think in a positive way, imagining a positive outcome to a situation and working towards it.
